Seniors for Seniors: No one should grow old without a friend
Our Seniors for Seniors program offers discounted adoption fees for senior citizens adopting senior dogs and cats — because the right companion changes everything at any age.
Built for the golden years.
Senior pets are the most overlooked animals in any shelter. They wait the longest, leave the least often, and arrive with the most to offer. Senior adopters often pass them over out of concern about outliving a pet — without realizing that a senior animal and a senior person are often the most natural match that exists.
A calm, quiet, already-house-trained animal isn't a consolation prize. For many older adults, it's exactly what the situation calls for.
Senior pets are calmer and lower-energy
Already house-trained — no puppy or kitten chaos
Personalities fully formed — no surprises
Deep, settled affection for their person
Discounted adoption fee for qualifying adopters
Senior pets are calmer and lower-energy. They're already house-trained — no puppy or kitten chaos. Their personalities are fully formed — no surprises. Their affection runs deep and settled. And the adoption fee is discounted for qualifying adopters.
Who This Program Helps
Adults aged 60 and older who are looking for a companion animal — and senior pets (typically seven years and older) who've been waiting longer than they should for someone to choose them.
Many of these animals spent years in a loving home before circumstances changed. They know what a good home looks like. They're ready for another one.
How It Works
1
Browse our senior animals — dogs and cats aged 7 and older. Our team can help identify the best temperament match.
2
Let us know you're interested in the Seniors for Seniors program when you submit your adoption application.
3
We'll confirm your eligibility (adopter aged 60+) and walk you through the animal's history, health, and personality.
4
The discounted adoption fee applies upon approval.
5
All regular adoption procedures apply.
The right companion is waiting.
If you're a senior looking for a calm, settled companion — or you know someone who is — we'd love to make an introduction.
